- If MacAmp significally lags your Macintosh, try the following steps:

- Ñ╩Turn on low CPU mode
- Low CPU mode deactivates EQs and turns on internal optimization routines causes lower CPU load.

- Ñ╩Turn off the spectrum analyzer
- Spectrum analyzer eats up plenty of CPU cycles. You can free up some CPU by deactivating it. To do so, just click on it.

- Ñ╩Turn off the ID3 tags scroll, if any
- If the song has ID3 tags in it, a special ticker-tape scroll is enabled. To disable, click on it. That will free up some CPU too.

- Ñ╩Hide player window
- When hidden, certain tasks are disabled. That can speed up MacAmp.

- Ñ Disable running Visual Plugins
- Visual Plugins can consume a lot of CPU power. Close all visual plugins windows.
